PARKERTECH DRIVER GETS HOMETOWN RECOGNITION Bobby Martin, who played sports in high school but was anything but a star,
years later appears on the sports page of the newspaper he read while
growing up, The Niagara Gazette. The paper did a feature on Bobby
following Parkertech Racing's win at the 55th annual NHRA U.S. Nationals in
Indianapolis. The lofty headline reads "Lewiston native a national star." "That's really nice. [reporter] Jeff Sowa did a great job with the story.
It's kind of a nice comeback for me," said Bobby. "I remember being in the
box score results for scoring 2 points at a Lew-Port basketball game once,
but that's about the only mention I've earned in the paper. I'm just glad I
got to show my dad my picture in the Gazette for winning Indy and not for
getting arrested or something." |
