BOWLING FOR DOLLARS, THEN THE BIG GO

There are double headers, then there's finishing the Division 3 season and racing at the U.S. Nationals on back-to-back weekends.
There's a lot going on here. First the Division 3 finale at Bowling Green's famous Beech Bend Raceway. We're tied for the Division 3's Spitzer Cup
award with none other than Mick Snyder. The Cup is a points race for qualifying at D3 events. We have one number one qualifier, Mick has one
number one qualifier, we were second once, so was Mick. That gets settled this weekend. Although we lead the D3 points, it's not over. Teams can still collect points at out-of-division races, and those go on into October.
The Bowling Green points are important on the National scene too. Right now
we're ninth, but it's pretty bunched up around us. A good showing can move us up a couple notches.
Then there's Indy. I have not seen National Dragster yet, but I understand
they're saying some great things, and making big predictions for us. One
thing about Indy, the great ones seem to shine there, but its history is
also full of huge upsets. Our team hasn't really been together long enough
to be considered great, but we're expected to perform. We're kind of in the
middle, and it puts the pressure on. To paraphrase David Letterman: "But
ya know, it's a good kind of pressure." Frank, Dan, and I are all thrilled
with how this season has gone. We want to see just how far we can take it.
The U.S. Nationals is certainly a good showcase. Bear in mind, Frank and
Dan have won it before (2002), but a second win puts you in a whole 'nother
category. It seems crazy to talk about winning Indy, but that's the kind
of stuff that's been going on around here lately. It's been absolutely
fantastic. We know there's still a long way to go, so we're all working
hard to maximize the opportunities. Tune in after Indy for all the inside
scoop. I really want to thank you if you're among our supporters or fans.
You've been outrageous this year, and the whole team is lovin' it. |
