WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
May 8, 2008
Author: Bobby Martin
Hang on! The next two weekends will feature some of the wildest drag racing
we've seen in a long time.
Funny car racing at night, Jet dragsters, wheelstanders, Competition Eliminator, and Super Stock. Wow. It sounds like the stuff of a drag
racer's dream, or maybe a trip back in time to the "Golden Age." The good news is, it's all happening over the next two weekends with the
Parkertech/Lane/CAP Dodge. First up, a trip to Martin MI for the National City Thunder Nationals. Kids, this is good ol' down and dirty Saturday
night match racin'. The ultimate in coolness. How about the final at 10 o'clock at night? Here's the scoop direct from the track website.

My understanding is that there will be 8 Funny Cars there. It's an all-out deal because there's extra money for making the final. I know you'll see
the Parkertech Dodge there, and Mick Snyder's new "CAP CHARGER lookin' "Mustang Sally." Maybe you'll see a rematch of the 2 thousandths race Mick and I had at Indy. What other cars will be there I don't know. Stop by the
pit area. We always love to see people to say hi, but at this event, we'll have lots of special souvenirs and collectibles available too!
The Thunder Nationals will be perfect to get us ready for the B'laster Cavalcade of Stars at world famous Summit Raceway Park at Norwalk. The
Saturday night show at this race will also be extra special. Come to this,
then spend Mother's Day with your mom.
2008 Cavalcade of Stars
You'll see Alcohol Funny Car and Dragster qualifying, 4 Jet Dragsters (2 men
and 2 women), and two wild wheelie machines, the "Cool Bus" vs. "Firetruck."
I have seen the "Cool Bus" in action and it is indeed cool. And get this,
in classic "FOX HUNT" match race style, all women, girls, grandmas, chicks,
dames, moms, sisters, aunts, and ladies are admitted free on Saturday night.
Another Bader bonus is the famous pound of ice cream for one dollar deal.
This race has it all. There's the big show Saturday night, but then Sunday it's down to serious racin', national event style. Frank Manzo will be in the house, along with Mick Snyder, Andy Bohl, Jeff Wilson, John Bojec, and Daniel Wilkerson, so winning this race will take the same level of performance as any NHRA National event. BE THERE!!
Lots of people have been asking me about our schedule for the rest of this year. For right now here's what I can tell you. You can expect to see the Parkers and Martins at all the NHRA Division 3 races in 2008. Also look for
appearances at the NHRA National events in Chicago, Englishtown, Norwalk and
Indy. Now, if you look at the NHRA schedule, you'll see that this makes for one heck of a June. Keep checking back for updates. To see or print the
schedule, click here.
Gotta go get ready for the kind of night time, under the lights, fire-breathin', ground poundin', super showmanship kinda racin' that turned
me on to Funny Cars in the first place. Remember, it's the Thunder Nationals, then the Cavalcade of Starts. Hope to SEE YOU THERE! |
